VIEWS began its journey as a youth-led initiative in 2002, inspired by the lived experiences of the devastating Odisha Super Cyclone of 1999. Under the mentorship of Sr. Mariamma, a compassionate and visionary leader, a group of committed youth came together to address the pressing issues faced by coastal communities. What started as a small grassroots effort to support local development gradually evolved into a structured movement. In 2008, the group formally registered as a non-profit organization—VIEWS (Voluntary Integration for Education and Welfare of Society)—with a mission to promote sustainable development through education, livelihoods, and community empowerment.
